I write on environment, transportation for the Los Angeles News Group. Would love to hear from you about transportation, freeways, light-rail trains, Gold Line, the express lanes. Also, the forests, trash, air pollution, endangered species, energy, electric cars, etc. I drove a plug-in car, the Chevy Volt. I grew up in New York, Long Island actually. I went to East Meadow High School and then Nassau College. I majored in biology and chemistry. I came west, attended University of California, Irvine and majored in social ecology. Later, I transferred to Cal State Fullerton where I earned a bachelor's degree in communications/journalism. In 2005, I got my master's degree in communications. I am an adjunct professor at Cal State Fullerton. I have two boys, Matt, 23, Andy, 21. My wife, Karen E. Klein is a freelance writer for Bloomberg Businessweek. We have two cats, Baby and Emerald. I've lived in the San Gabriel Valley since 1984. I love to hike the San Gabriel Mountains and have done my share of mountain biking. I enjoy road bicycling now and exploring new open spaces. Recently, I've gotten into birding. I also like tennis, soccer and baseball.
